This blog is for sharing creating a space by collective of individuals who fight and resist capitalism, and trying to build a new world, on ruins of capitalism. Against all forms of domination, exploitation, humiliation, in human relations and in other relations. Against all forms of oppression!
At this time, after nearly 10 months in Spanish state prisons, I must deliver these words to you, dear companions (female and male) who fight for the abolition of all authority and the integral development of each individual.
Monica Caballero Anarchist Political Prisoner CP Sepulveda Avila
Written by Monica Caballero from prison Avila
“In prisons the individual is crushed in the depths of her/his essence”
Today anarchism is a major concern in terms of security for many Western (and some Eastern) states; in this witch hunt informal antiauthoritarian anything goes, this repressive hysteria is inherent in our quest for total freedom, is as old as the anarchist ideas. So all who attempt to confront or question the prevailing order must expect a momentary or prolonged visit at one of these monuments of human extermination.
In my case passing time in a cage is nothing new. If you decide to fight the established order then punishment is one of its consequences, this approach goes far beyond the Democratic vision of Innocent / Guilty, which has no place for someone like me who wants to destroy the world that is founded on their laws. I do not recognize any judge, the Law makes me a slave, its Justice leaves me a prisoner.
Inside prisons the garbage of society comes out. Here inside the individual is crushed in the depths of its essence, blackmail and manipulation by the tentacles of power are mixed and transformed as social reintegration policy. Given this policy just maintaining coherence is my victory, staying incorruptible and decent is the daily fight.
This political-legal-policing process that has been first against a group of comrades and finally has taken my beloved companion and I. Those in power have used devices and tricks, some bordering on the ridiculous, but those who are sucked into this system and trying to perpetuate it will never understand our ways.
Ways to break the hierarchy, not receiving orders from anyone, we grow and multiply like weeds in their quiet and sterile garden. The set of anarchist ideas are developed on the complexity of individual integrity, this free individual, associated with others, will finish this rotten society. The shapes and the ways in which individuals face the domain are many and have no limits, neither is better or worse, they are just different. No anarchist deemed as such can impose what to do on anyone much less allow any form of compulsion.
Along the path of anarchist construction-destruction we don`t need (or want) any manual or itinerary, we build the way in our daily lives. For those who believe that antiauthoritarians strictly follow the tenets of some guru, I tell them they have not understood anything.
While there have been throughout history (and there still are) many valuable colleagues in the struggle against authority who have made great contributions, it does not mean that we surrender to any kind of cult.
Dearest comrades I would love to dedicate words more often, but with these limitations I do not know if I can communicate in this way again.
Within a few months the trial will be upon us, I’ll try and rise to the occasion, and I’ll never bow my head
Send a fraternal hug to those who have supported us, every gesture of solidarity illuminates the shadows of these cold walls.
To all the subversive political prisoners in Chilean prisons: my thoughts are always with you, though I’m very far away I’m thinking of you…to all you freely chosen sisters and brothers.. lets hope our paths will soon cross.
An open hand to the comrade.. a closed fist to the enemy!
”Send a fraternal hug to those who have supported us, every gesture of solidarity illuminates the shadows of these cold walls.”
”we grow and multiply like weeds in their quiet and sterile garden”.
Mónica Caballero (25 ), known as La Moniquita, and Francisco Javier Solar (34) (El Cariñoso) have been charged with a spectacular bombing, without victims in Zaragoza Cathedral,
Both were eventually found innocent in Chile, after a great support campaign, and came to Barcelona to start a new life, to study and hopefully start a veggy restaurant, before being accused of the Comando Mateo Morral attacks.
Marina Ginestà,This photograph was taken by Juan Guzman (who was born Hans Gutmann in Germany before going to Spain where he photographed the International Brigades). Date of the photo: July 21, 1936.
Marina Ginesta: activist, journalist and translator: born Toulouse 29 January 1919; died Paris 6 January 2014.
When Marina Ginesta heard on 18 July 1936 that the Spanish military had risen against the country’s democratically elected government, her first thought was that the army’s rebellion was to stop the People’s Olympiad, the alternative Olympic Games in Barcelona planned in protest against those held in Nazi Germany in the same summer. “We had no idea what was really happening, we were that innocent,” Ginesta, then a member of Spain’s Socialist Youth movement and helping to organise the Olympiad, recalled.
Instead, the military uprising ushered in a brutal Civil War, and a photograph of Ginesta, born in Toulouse and believed to have been the last French survivor of the Spanish conflict, became one of its best-known images. Taken on 21 July 1936, the photo shows Ginesta as a 17-year-old militiawoman, standing bareheaded and smiling on the rooftop terrace of a central hotel in Barcelona. She has a look of innocence in her eyes, perhaps, but – as the rifle slung over her back would suggest – her idealistic determination to defend the Republic against the army’s treachery and simultaneously implement a Socialist revolution in Spain is equally plain.
“It is a good photo, it reflects the feelings we had at the time,” said Ginesta, whose parents were Spanish trade unionists. “Socialism had arrived and the clients of the hotel” – the now defunct Colon on the Plaza de Catalunya – “had gone. There was a sense of euphoria.”
“We moved into the Colon” – which became the Communist and Socialist combined youth movement headquarters in Barcelona, festooned with images of Lenin and Stalin – “and we started eating good food. It was as if the bourgeois way of life had suddenly become ours as well.
“They say I have a striking way of looking at the camera. That’s possible, because we were well aware of the mystique surrounding a revolution of the proletariat and the Hollywood films of the time, too [with stars] like Greta Garbo and Gary Cooper.” However, for Ginesta and the other idealists of the time, the summer of 1936 represented the high-tide mark for Spain’s revolution, as the bitterly fought Civil War ended with defeat for the Republic and exile or death for its defenders.
Ginesta never bore a gun again after that emblematic photo of youthful political resistance. Instead she worked as a translator for Pravda’s Spanish correspondent, Mijail Koltsov – accused in some quarters of being a secret agent for Stalin – and later as a journalist for various Republican newspapers.
In her first job, she attended some of Koltsov’s most high-profile interviews, including one with the Anarchist leader and hero Buenaventura Durruti in July 1936. She once said she believed their conversation, apparently of a highly political nature, upset the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin so much when he got wind of it that it led to the death of both Durruti, who was killed in mysterious circumstances on the Madrid frontline that November, and Koltsov’s execution in 1940 in a Moscow purge.
As for the Republic, fighting between different political movements and a comparative dearth of military firepower thanks to the Western democracies’ adherence to a non-intervention pact, effectively doomed it, but it still held out until 1 April 1939. During that period, while the publications Ginesta worked for cranked out increasingly unrealistic propaganda – “our duty was to keep the morale high amongst the combatants,” she later explained – the Hotel Colon found itself on the frontline of those internal Republican divisions in May 1937. As outlined in George Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia, the militias of a tiny left-wing party, the POUM, joined forces with the Anarchists in Barcelona to rebel against the increasingly dominant Communists, who used the same terraces where the photo of Ginesta had been taken for machine-gun posts as they fought for control of the city.
Less than a year had passed, but those heady summer months of 1936, when it felt like young Catalan revolutionaries such as Ginesta would change the world, must have seemed to have been lost forever. Following the Republic’s defeat, an injured Ginesta faced exile, first in France and then, after Germany’s invasion, in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Her photograph from July 1936, though, began to circulate widely, one of its most recent public appearance being on an exhibition poster in Germany – although Ginesta only become aware of its existence more than 50 years after it had been taken.

Can Vies: The reason for the police force in Barcelona. La voz como arma 29.52014
These days, as reflected in this blog (“Unknow set fire to the excavator that was used to demolish the CSO building Can Vies, evicted yesterday” and “the CSO Can Vies evicted in Barcelona“), the Sants distric, and by domino effect much of the Barcelona city and other Catalonian towns, lives moments of revolt and solidarity after the eviction on Monday 26 of the squatter social center Can Vies. Historical reference for the antagonist social movement in the Catalan city, with 17 years of experience, fight , free and rebel culture, which has lead to build strong ties to the neighborhood, creating a solidarity network that has paid off in the different demonstrations these days. Thousands of people of all ages had shouted against speculation and lack of spaces from which to rethink and transform the existing relations in an anti-capitalist and self-managed way. While, other fewer, less patients, more passionated and thirsting for strike back and return to sender a little of the anger that the dogs of the system spread every day, had smashed banks and attacked police and mass media journalists, made barricades blocking train traffic. People had set fire to the demolition machinery parked in the area of the squatter.
A worthy vengeance that has not stop yet, and continuing today with new demonstrations, and will follow which many qualify as “Can Vies Effect ” which comes from social networks as “the new Gamonal“, referring to another recent example of massive neighborhood mobilization in this Burgos city distric, where the neighborhood solidarity brings to a permanent cessation of the works for a new, useless and expensive boulevard. Calmed conflict but no the consciences of the residents.
The totalitarianism of “their cities” do not fit with who have inhabited or known gaps of mercantilism, full of life and passion, dreams and hopes. Where neither boredom nor the monotony of status-quo have no place, venturing into new ways of politics but above all, to interact and disobey.
To the Masters: your cities are sad. You want places without participation, where everything is automated and ready to keep us allienated from our needs and the resources we need to truly satisfy, dedicated to the hypnotic and absurd work to keep us turning in gears that make screens, fences and new desires to use and pull, synthetic experiences, electric household comfort and unattainable ideals of life while pursuing gradually lose breath and self-esteem. To finish in the peat fades faceless crowds walking downcast sorrounds by windows lined streets, cameras and publicity. An sterile stage of peace, security and harmony that breaks so easely as shops and banks windows whenever the system programming failure, and the mass ceases to be to become free people who pool their efforts and organize autonomously to end the social zoo and clash the miserable living conditions it imposes.
Now, the comrades of the anti-development and libertarian magazine Argelaga publish in his blog a text about Can Vies, his role in Barcelona turned into tourist brand, the eviction and the answers give in the street. After receiving the email, I leave it for reading, reflection and debate. For other texts, information and news publication, visit the blog of Argelaga here.
Can Vies: The Reason for the police force in Barcelona. Argelaga, May 28, 2014
When the force of reason is subbmided by reason of strength, not everyone can talk about Law or Rights. In this situation the law is arbitrary and its implementation does not follow the “rule of law”, but a state of abuse where violence is monopolized by the government to serve privileged interests. In this case the abuse resistance is legitimate. Moreover, the right to resist and defend themselves is really the only Right. Therefore, from the point of view of freedom, dignity and reason, the true sources of law, the protest against the demolition of squatted and self-managed space Can Vies, in Sants district, can not be more justified. Its demolition was not a pretext for “intolerable itinerant minorities violence” take advantage of the unrest “as the authorities, and the policial trade union UGT, say: it has been simply a sign of institutional barbarism, blind, wild ans widespread represive violence.
The metropolis called Barcelona is not a comprehensive settlement organized by a community of people as when it was founded; nor is a industrial city full of blue collar workers as it was before; the overcrowding Barcelona is only an open and peaceful consumer space, where every human movement must be regulated and controlled to ensure transparency and function. Who rules in Barcelona are not neighbors, but a political and financial caste, verticalist and authoritarist. An usurping parasitic caste, making the urban management their privileged way of life. What counts for leaders is the “Barcelona brand”. To give a neat and calm image, such as a mall or a theme park, good for business, shopping, leisure commodified and tourism. It is evident that the spectacle of a consumable Barcelona needs a space without contradictions and ambiguities, completely subdued and set for the buyer.
The new urban model not allow the existence of truly public spaces, without mediation or barriers. And forget the horizontal management: everything must function as a hierarchical and monitored scenario where technology, ordinances, street furniture and urban development are at the service of plunderers leaders. The exercise of authority under these conditions is essentially police; at this stage, is confused with political repression: management, monitoring and order are the same thing, so the Government rules everything, from public order to council. The policy is then not a matter of policy, but the relentless security forces. All political and social problems that this aberrant model city constantly causes will never be recognized as such, since the population has no right to complain about “the best of all worlds”. The only response from the dominant power, hijacked of popular choice, is violence.
It is clear that on the issue of Can Vies, city officials never intended to offer alternatives aside of official bureaucratic circuit. Every meeting was poured to manipulation and deceit, because proposing such unacceptable controlled space in which they really wanted to remove as place for people. The disproportionate police presence to enforce the eviction proves it.
Master had neither think about the intervention of other groups or the neighborhoods to support the Center. Nor solidarity from other districs would expect, as happened in the early morning. So that the “unjust order” forces were initially surprised. Where was the ultrasonic cannon and why not shoot immediately “foam” bullots? The police trade union SMT-CCOO wondered that, as must to be said that repression is a mercenary work whose employees are covered by the state agreements. The answer everyone has seen. Almost military occupation of the distric, indiscriminate police violence, arbitrary arrests and injuries …
All the mediatic efforts of Barcelona Mayor Trias, public order Councilor Espadaler and Councilman Sants-Montjuïc district Jordi Martí, was directed, first, to support any violent policial action. Police, the “defender of property rights” and “executing an order of Supreme Court”. In fact, they have not explained too much: “Bad thing is that if the police has to justified their facts” Espadaler, ” security forces have reason. When mossos act is becouse a reason” Trias. them, the politician efforts was also directed to present the protests as the work of infiltrating violent groups, with the idea of splitting between peaceful protest and radical, “anti”, in order to “find ways of consensus” with some and beating and jailing others. It’s an old political tactic that comes up when the violent force has not given all the desired result. The leader demagoguery suck but that is. We do not blame the authorities for lack of subtlety when the only need is the lack of scruples!
Can Vies was a stone in the shoe of power in Barcelona. And it seems that this has not been easily removed. Resistance has been exemplary in many ways, proves that there are people that do not fit the slave behavior they impose. This is cause for joy. Today there are plenty of concentrations. Trust in the near future to have many others!
The struggle continues. Visca Can Vies!

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks…will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered….
